North of Madinah, the desert opens into Al-Ula — a valley of sandstone cliffs, palm oases and monumental tombs carved directly into the rock. At its centre is Hegra, Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site and the southern city of the Nabataeans, the same civilisation that built Petra.
It is a long day from Madinah, so we travel it privately and comfortably, at your pace rather than a coach schedule.
Full day or overnight
- Full day — an early start from Madinah, the main sites, and back the same night.
- Overnight — a far more relaxed pace, staying in Al-Ula and returning the following day. We can hold the vehicle and driver for the whole trip.
A note of respect: for many Muslims, Hegra is visited with reflection on the people of Thamud mentioned in the Qur’an. Some pilgrims choose to pass through without lingering. Tell us your preference and your driver will plan the day accordingly.
